EUROSIVA 2025: A Historic Milestone in Buenos Aires

Following previous scientific events in Chile (2011 and 2019) and Colombia (2013), EUROSIVA once again crossed European borders — this time to Buenos Aires, which proved to be the ideal host. From May 15th to 17th, over 550 anesthesia professionals, including 70 colleagues from Latin America, gathered for a unique, immersive event centered on Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) and intraoperative monitoring.

This remarkable edition of EUROSIVA was made possible through the invaluable collaboration with FAAAAR (Argentinian Federation of Anesthesia, Analgesia and Resuscitation Associations) and under the auspices of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA). Together, we offered an outstanding scientific program addressing key topics such as pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in TIVA, advances in target-controlled infusion (TCI), brain monitoring, the role of adjuvants, and novel agents like ciprofol. Special attention was also given to TIVA strategies in specific patient populations and the future of environmentally sustainable anesthesia.

Throughout the three days, participants engaged in lectures, hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and simulation-based learning, including the highly regarded Tivatrainer, which drew significant attention for its educational value.

A Truly Global Meeting Faithful to EUROSIVA’s mission of expanding access to high-quality education, EUROSIVA BUENOS AIRES 2025 was also delivered in a fully virtual format. Through both live and on-demand participation, colleagues from Europe and Latin America were able to join, reinforcing our vision of a borderless, inclusive educational platform.

Live Surgery: A Defining Moment One of the most memorable highlights of EUROSIVA 2025 was the live broadcast of two surgeries from the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires — a first in the history of our congress. These cases, performed with TIVA-TCI and advanced brain monitoring, were followed live by more than 500 attendees on-site and many more online. The sessions, moderated by Hernán Boveri and Frank Engbers, set a new benchmark for educational and technical excellence.

Celebrating Science and Community Beyond the scientific achievements, EUROSIVA BUENOS AIRES 2025 was a celebration of the global anesthesia community. The industry exhibition brought together leading companies in anesthesia technology and pharmaceuticals, offering opportunities to discover innovations and foster new professional connections.

The success of this event reaffirms the vitality of our community and the relevance of our mission. As we look ahead, we remain committed to advancing excellence, collaboration, and innovation in anesthesia worldwide.

We are already looking forward to writing the next chapter of EUROSIVA together.
